Meldrick Taylor was never the same because of the move up in weight to 147 and the prolonged beating he took throughout the fight, not because of the final right hand. Even without that late rally, his career wouldn't have been much different. Hell, Chavez or no Chavez, his stay at the top would've most likely been short.
The main change about Jermain Taylor is that he simply fought a higher level of opposition once he faced B-Hop. Great fighters like Hopkins and Winky Wright, bigger guys who could hit like Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham, or simply really tough style matchups like Cory Spinks.
