Seems ridiculous, but Ricky was trying to box his way in against Pac. He started the fight exactly as he fought against Malignaggi (which latter performance everyone praised as a boxing clinic).

I said before the fight that if Ricky had no chance if he approached Pac with that steadier pace.

He was actually trying to do what Sr. wanted of him in there, slow it down and try to box his way in. It's just not ingrained, he's an old dog and he couldn't pull it off, couldn't remember everything and put it together, especially when he started getting caught, it all fell apart.

I don't understand why Hatton was surprised by that punch. jab, paw, straight left. Watching the scene for the first time I thought Hatton would keep his hands up to block the punch, I was actually shocked that it landed.
