Why would I wan't my son to take up boxing?? dude about 95% of boxers don't get **** from boxing financially and get their heads beat. Maybe just let them train and stuff for self defense and whatever but i would not push my son to be a boxer.

This somewhat. With regards to my children I'll let them do what they want athletically, if it reaches the point where they start competing and do well so be it. I wouldn't push him to be a pro and I wouldn't prioritise it over his education.

Really speaking, you either have to be sure of your self or have nothing else going for you to decide you want to make a living through boxing because of the many that try, few get the pay check they deserve.

Agreed with not pushing him into it.

All you can do is introduce him to it at a young age. If he grows up watching it, and you take him to a gym from a young age, i don't see a whole lot more you can do until he expresses an interest/disinterest in it himself.

I agree with what you said about him respecting your interests if he respects you as a person though. I grew up playing sports my Dad was interested in and played when he was young. I've only become interested in taking up boxing recently( I'm 23 unfortunately), I wish I had been introduced to boxing long ago, but neither my friends or family were followers and so I had little exposure to it.
