Is it true that Ward will have EVERY Super Six fight in his hometown?

Even the semi final and possibly the final?

If true then I find this to be very biased and unfair. When you consider that all of the other guys will likely have 1 fight in their hometown and 2 somewhere else. If Ward gets EVERY fight in Oakland then I think that's not right. Especially because of his style, I feel as though the referee's need to be more aware of Ward's excessive clinching and leading with his head. I dont hate a big dislike for Ward or anything but it's definetly something that needs to be looked at.

There are dirty tricks that all of the best fighters use in boxing (Bernard Hopkins for example) but I thought Ward might have been disqualified in the Kessler fight with a neutral referee. And if he continues to fight at home then he will continue to get away with these kind of things because nobody is complaining about them other than his opponent. Ward is a very skilled and talented fighter but I feel as though he has been given an unfair advantage in his fights so far with the home advantage and the tactics that he uses to basically negate your offence. He holds too much and holds out his arm in a stiff way whenever you get near him. Aswell as leading with his head all the time. I feel as though this needs to be taken more seriously by referees. I dont think it's fair.

dont think the semi or final HAS to be in his hometown.

I said in an earlier thread id expect him to give up home advantage for the Dirrel fight as he has already qualified for the semis. that way he can have an away fight without leaving the states, and can demand home advantage for the semi as (probable) tourny leader who earned that right, and he shouldn have to fight 2 away fights in a row.

well, thats what i'd do in his shoes anyway.

I heard a little rumor about this but it's not yet confirmed. Lou DiBella said that Dan Goosen insists that Ward has every fight in his hometown and that was put into his contract when the tournament started. I have no proof but alot of people are saying this. And if it's true then it's really not fair because I feel as though Ward gets away with alot fighting in his hometown.

Watchu talking bout willis? Ward doesn't foul any more than the others. It would take a biased ref and judges to stop him. Saw him beating the powerhouse Green ON THE INSIDE? WITH HIS GLOVES? He landed 2 (TWO) unfortunate ACCIDENTAL head butts on Kessler, now he's the dirtiest fighter alive? He kid is good. He can fight on the outside, on the inside, he can bully you around, he can box your ears off. Nowhere to hide, no excuse to use (awww he's a runner!). I loved Ward last night, he made me a bigger fan. Too bad he doesn't have that 1 punch KO power but i think that's part of his plan.

Answering your question: IF you are the Olympic champion and and an undefeated young pro champion, you can dictate some participating rules. Ward demanded all of his fight were to be fought in his home turf. Well I can't say that robbed anyone of a win. Saying he would be disqualified for 2 butts accidental against Kessler, without any warning, is beyond ridiculous.

It bothers me a fighter hiding at home when I see a Dirrell - Froch type of fight:

If Ward ever won this fight fighting like Froch did, he'd be HATED on full strength here. Compare his domination of Kessler and consider those 2 accidental butts and compare them with Froch winning this like he did with the INTENTIONAL fouls and SLAM he performed. Add to that the fact he LOST the fight clearly.

            THAT is an hometown advantage.

I havent heard of anyone complaning about other fighters in the Super Six being dirty of using dirty tactics in their fights. Ward is the only one who has been accused of this, I dont have anything against Ward personally but I didnt think it was fair what he was allowed to get away with in the Kessler fight particuarly. There was more than 2 headbutts, Perhaps 3 or 4 and deliberate or not he was not even warned by the referee. Not once.

I never said he robbed anybody of a win, But I do feel that the referee's need to be more aware of Ward and the tactics he uses to take away your offence. Excessive holding and putting your arm out to stop the guy from coming near you is illegal but Ward has gotten any with it so far. He was Olympic champion but he wasnt the biggest name when the tournament started. I dont think it's fair to say "Ok this guy is American so we will give him every fight in his hometown and basically allow him to do whatever he wants to do to win his fights". It's just not fair.

Each fighter in the Super Six should have had one fight in their hometown, Another fight in an opponents hometown and the third fight in a neutral venue. Having all 3 fights in your hometown is a big advantage.
