Oscar didnt look like he trained for Sturm like he should have done. I thought he underestimated him but I also thought 160 was abit too high for Oscar anyway. Later in his career his perfect weight was 154 which is where he had his best performences (Vargas, Mosley II (Well he performed very well for the first 8 rounds and I thought he should have got the decision) and Mayorga. You could tell he could have trained harder for Sturm but at the same time Sturm is a big, durable natural Middleweight and Im not sure Oscar would have beaten him even if he did train harder. Sturm was robbed in that fight, There was a couple of close rounds but Sturm clearly won. I had it 117-111, It could have been closer but I dont think Oscar won more than 4-5 rounds at max.
Mayweather vs. Oscar at 160 (The one that fought Sturm).

as bad as oscar looked there, you have to consider how much bigger sturm is than dlh and floyd. dlh could afford to be more active against mayweather at 160, especially if floyd is more conservative at mw than he was at jrmw.Comment

Sturm isnt that much bigger. Oscar is 5-10 and Sturm is 5-11. He doesnt look that big, but he was a natural Middleweight. De La Hoya wasnt, He was a tall guy but a natural 154lber. You could tell because Sturm doesnt knock people out but he was snapping back ODLH's head like crazy. Oscar couldnt take punches at Middleweight. 154 was his perfect weight.Comment
