the bolded area means nothing except to a pacquiao fan,"he didn't leave the sport of boxing when boxing needed boxers the most"why type of dumb ass statemnet is that only a pacquiao fan will try to make that an excuse for manny
for people to say that floyd stepping down was the ONLY way pac got #1 p4p is RIDICULOUS... pac wouldve worked his way up and CLAIMED that spot. the WW division was HOT when floyd decided to leave... floyd couldve stayed and worked on that legacy if he really cared to.... floyd beating margs, shane, & cotto would have SOLIDIFIED his status as FOTD & would have be UNDISPUTED WW champion.... but he CHOSE to retire, and let everyone fight each other... when the dust settled, he came back and fought JMM.... i wouldve given floyd more credit if he fought collazo or clottey for a tune-up... but making JMM jump up 2 weightclasses was WEAK. regardless of JMMs p4p status... EVERYBODY knew it was going to be a mismatch.

if i can only have my way i will have this kind of sharing:
ppv from floyd fans goes to floyd
ppv from pac fans goes to pac
whoever has the higher ppv percentage will get the bigger share in total purse, ppv from nuetral fans and gate receipts.
all ppv buyers needs to declare whether they're floyd, pac or nuetral fans. i think cable companies can figure out how to do that.

Floyd is only "worth" more when matched in the right circumstances (meaning if he fought Berto tomorrow he wouldn't do big numbers) and please don't act is if his market value is substantially more than Pac, if anything they both share parity, one holds *slightly bigger PPV numbers--Floyd in this case, yet he agreed to 50/50 before and his PPV numbers were still *slightly higher then, so what's the difference between now and then?
Another thing, Pac did 700K on his with own with no help from Clottey, HBO 24/7 or any other extraneous marketing schemes. Now granted the fight was sold as an event, meaning the new Dallas Stadium, but trying pairing Mayweather with Clottey and who is going to buy that fight, besides Lil Boosie and one insecure kid from Australia who probably wears tight shirts with a ton of bedazzler and yes you know who I'm aiming that at.
If he doesn't fight Pac and decides to take on a soft touch, then why not prove to everyone once and for all that you are the UNO and forgo the safety net of having HBO provide you a guaranteed % of PPV revenue, if you can bring in big numbers you'll see the same return anyway.
His numbers don't tell the whole story, when paired correctly he brought in big numbers (based on who was standing on the opposite side of the ring with him) and he received a bounce (residual effect) off of that with Marquez. The numbers predicted for both himself and Mosley came in substantially lower than what they had initially predicted, those numbers are on the decline...sooner or later that "gangsta" shtick gets played out, that's a short sale. Pac receives first story reports on media stal***** like 60 Minutes. Floyd does a rap video with Lil Boosie...you do the math based on overall mainstream popularity.Last edited by switchsouthpaw; 06-18-2010, 02:04 PM.
