do you guys think if there was a second fight that hearns could have won? IT just seemed like hearns legs werent there after 2 rounds. And Hearns kept backing up when hagler was coming forward

if he would have boxed him
    instead of slugging with him
he may have been able to
    outpoint hagler.

Hearns would of won the re-match. Hearns knew that he only had three or four rounds in him because guys were rubbing his legs before the fight and Manny went mad when he found them, so Hearns' legs could only last three or four rounds and that is why he had to go right at Hagler rather than out-box him (you go right at Hagler at your peril).

no way hearns would of have won the rematch, even if he had box, hagler is to strong at middle for hearns, and hearns could not really hurt hagler as he adjusted throughout the fight. same fight only it could last alittle bit longer. hagler KO5 or 6.

I don't know really, someone will explain, surely someone else knows about this? I heard Manny Steward talking about it.

I read in a book that Hearns was getting a rub down on his legs right before the fight. The goons aroung him did not know that doing that takes a fighters legs away. It relaxes the muscles and weakens the legs. Manny saw them doing that and became infuriated. He said he was worried after that and feared that Tommy wouldn't last. He was right!

maybe that was a factor, but still he was really dominated, there is just no way that tommy with his chin can outpoint hagler no way. hagler is too strong and powerfull, so even if he had his legs the fight would last 1 or 3 rounds longer, but the result will always be the same.

Hearns would have to fight a perfect fight to beat Hagler, in my opinion, because if Hagler fought a rematch anyway like he fought the first fight (all out swarming) Hearns would have to find a way to keep his distance and not give Hagler any kind of an inch or not make any kind of a mistake Hagler could capitalize off of.
