From what I understood it was the complete opposite and JMM did prize himself out of the fight (mostly because of Nacho being his Manager/Promoter at the time). They (JMM and Nacho) opted to take a measly 20K payday to go to Indonesia to fight Chris John rather than accept a rematch with Pacquiao. At the time it seemed like the worst decision in his career, and it was justified even more by him losing to John.
