Pacquiao still Ring Magazine's pound-for-pound king

Pacquiao still Ring Magazine's pound-for-pound king

    Digital Journal

Manny Pacquiao is still the no.1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world according to Ring Magazine's issue dated June 13, 2010. Occupying the second spot is undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr who just won a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley last May 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After Mayweather's victory over Shane Mosley, Yahoo Sports, represented by Kevin Iole, declared Mayweather the top pound-for-pound fighter, outpointing Pacquiao by six points in a voting conducted by an elite panel of boxing writers from around the world.

Complete list of pound-for-pound Ring ranking can be viewed here.
Meanwhile Pacquiao who just returned to the Philippines Monday from a trip to the US to receive his 'Fighter of the Decade' award from the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), says he is ready to face Mayweather, Cotto or Hatton for his last fight before retiring from professional boxing.

He said Cotto is now asking for a rematch after defeating Yuri Foreman via TKO at the Yankee Stadium in New York. Briton Ricky Hatton has also shown his intention for a rematch, Pacquiao added.

A match with either Hatton or Cotto is possible if the much talked about Pacquiao-Mayweather match fails to materialize for the second time.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum and Golden Boy Promotions' Richard Schaefer are currently negotiating for what appears to be the biggest boxing event of the decade.

Asked by reporters last week about the progress of the negotiations, Golden Boy's Oscar de la Hoya says the fight is almost a done deal.

I thought May would become number 1 after beating Mosley.

Either fighter has a case for top p4p. But floyd's last 2 fights were wins vs #2 and #3. He was #1, retired, manny became #1. I don't think you can be mad either way.
