  • Klitschko-Williams; Battle To Restore Heavyweight Lineage

This Saturday, Vitali Klitschko and Danny Williams fight for the WBC Heavyweight Championship on Pay Per View, but more importantly they fight to claim the title as the world’s premiere heavyweight. Forget about the guys that fought November 13. This is the big heavyweight match-up that is so important and so pertinent to the fight game that it does not need to be packaged with two other so-called Heavyweight title bouts because it’s going to help determine if we truly have a successor to Lennox Lewis. You see Vitali Kiltschko’s fight with Tyson conqueror Danny Williams will either further solidify his claim as the heir apparent or it’s going to leave us thinking that maybe we should just classify him with all the other Heavyweight Chumps. I understand why Sky televison like to consider Vitali as the true champ but I don't see why a fighter that lost to Lewis and looked like he had been butchered should be considered anymore real than the rest of them. What's all the lineage talk. If anything we need an elimination contest like King arranged back in the late 80s. Lets get an undisputed champion from WBA,WBC,IBF,WBO and let the new lineage begin as the old line ended when Lewis retired as the linear champion.

Did you even see the fight? If it wasn't for Klitschkos eye he would have won, he took more rounds then lewis, and landed more punches, Lewis got lucky and won on a TKO, nothing else.

Yeah I saw the fight that's the fight that Vitali was in no fit state to continue. What would have happened if Vitali had continued another round or two ? The guy may have bled to death. The fight was scheduled for 12 Vitali couldn't have completed those extra rounds and no matter how you may call Lennox lucky he did win the fight. We don't decide the fight on what may have happened we decide by what did happen. If we're going on what may have happened we should have continued calling Moorer champion after Foreman ko'd him because some say George got lucky with the four punch combination that dropped him in the tenth and he was way on his way to a points win. Ko or tko it doesn't matter Lewis did win looking at Vitali should tell you he'd lost.

He'd get a bit of sympathy from me if it was caused by a butt but not if the big robot decides to fend off shots with his face.

He lost, end of story. And if he'd fought a properly motivated Lewis he would have got slaughtered.

              blah blah blah,

This is why we need a rematch. So far there is only one of them that says "I want rematch" during every single interview.

Right now, there is no linear or lineal champion, and until thre is a boxer with at least 2 of the belts, you can't claim that Vitaly is the better champion than Byrd or Ruiz. But I will argue that Brewster is not the man.
