Mares is the better fighter, but sadly will fight in anonymity more so than Alvarez will.

maybe not mares is a golden boy fighter and with the heart he showed against perez maybe they wont hesitate to throw him into the big fights sooner then originally thought. on the other hand alvarez was rocked early on in the fight against a guy(jose cotto) who had no business hurting him. that might be enough to keep him on the sidelines for a couple more years until the right opponent comes along

Abner Mares hands down. I like Canelo too but I honestly think dude has way too much hype.

I agree Yohnny Perez is a different caliber of fighter to Jose Cotto, who is actually a lightweight, and yet cotto almost stopped Alvares early on in the fight. Perez, who is arguably one of the best at bantam went to war with Mares at although it was a draw, watching the 12th round with make anyone realise who was getting the better of who in that fight.

bull**** he was nowhere near being stopped he caught him when hes going back but he didnt lose his head and he was in total consciense and ok cotto light weigh no he had been fighting in junior welterweight and if im not mistaken didnt pac used to be a lighweight?m not compering his abilities to pac but still also didnt mayweather fight a lighweight look canelo is 19 years old he still growing and he will get stronger his ability will increase with time and experience have no doubt canelo will be a champ
