Has that ever been done before?

If Floyd did it. Surely people would have to stand up and give him his props. To me he is the best boxer iv'e had the priveledge of watching, For some reason alot of people like to discredit him I think he will go down as one of the best to ever lace up the gloves.

He wont fight Martinez. So what is the point of this?

Yes if he wins the middleweight title it will be impressive, but it wont happen. Not enough money for him.

Everyone says this, but I still think there is a good chance it will happen. Floyd wants the Pacquiao fight next, If it happens he will make loads and loads for that fight. Im sure he would like to make history and win the Middleweight title, I cant remember anyone else coming from 130 to win a belt at 160. Oscar De La Hoya did it but he really lost that fight to Felix Sturm and got a gift decision. If Mayweather did it convincingly and won his 6th WBC belt along the way. It would solidify his legacy even more

Floyd could still make about $10 million fighting Martinez, Especially if Martinez say...Beat Williams in a rematch and they had a 24/7 to go with it...

I still think it can happen!

Look, i wish it would be true. But Floyd just dont seem to care about legacy. He cares about money and the ability to claim he is undefeated.

I had some hopes of him fighting Martinez but Rogers comments about it on that podcast recently just killed it for me. It doesnt make sense for Floyd to do it. (it would make sense if he were going for greatness, but he isnt)

Come on, He does care but he gets fed up because whatever he does it's never good enough with the critics. Everyone was saying "Why is he fighting Judah? Baldomir is the undisputed champion" and then give him no credit for winning all 12 rounds. It's a very simular thing with Shane Mosley, Everyone wanted Floyd to step up and fight a "real" Welterweight and when he wins 11 out of 12. It's like "Mosley is over the hill, Mayweather cherry picked him". So he feels as though he is in a no win situation, And I can see why. The guy is an amazing boxer, He's beaten 13 world champions. Yet nobody in the U.S seems to give him his due credit.

He would want that WBC belt. It's more of a question of what happens with Martinez. If he can win his next fight or not.

Mayweather doesn't need a name to get close to a mill. If Mayweather did 1.4 against Mosley he can do close to a mill against Martinez. Beating Martinez would be impressive, and it's a legit opponent.

I agree that Floyd gets way too much hate, especially in his own country. Im somewhat disgusted with it, and i know for sure people will miss him when he is gone.

People also said that about the Marquez and Mosley fights.

                  ...$65 million later...

I believe that Mayweather-Martinez would do more than Mosley.

Although Martinez doesn't speak English or have the name recognition among the casual fans, that is a marketable fight to several demographic groups.
