Every professional today is at least a decent boxer, there are so many people vying to be pro athletes today that only the best of the best get up there. And I'm not just talking about boxing, I'm talking about all sports. 50-100 years ago, anyone off the street could get a match with SRR!

boxing is a poor man's sport............***s, irish and italians do not send the hundreds of contenders to the ring as they did in the past...........at a "grassroots" level boxing does not have support......what parent chooses boxing as the sport for their child over say basketball or baseball??......look no further than the fact that "soccer" is now the biggest grassroots sport in the USA...........the talent pool has shrunk......not expanded

So since Walcott has the smaller frame he fit more muscle mass then P-Will?
Why are you picking and choosing people to compare? Because you lost the debate? And being a sore loser about it? I was talking "generally" the whole time, while you go and choose an anomaly in P. Will? Pathetic.

They think fighters from 30, 40, 50 years ago can compete with fighters today who not only are bigger and stronger, but have experienced trainers, nutritionist, consultants, advisers so that all the fighter has to worry about is the actual fighting.

These people have stayed in boxing forums too long.

i would argue that point in bold very very vigourously........the old trainers destroy the current crop........

boxing is often cited as a sport where improvements in sports science and lifestyle have not imporved the standard of the sport in leaps and bounds..............

Oh well I thought that every fighter from today era had more muscle mass from fighters of back then. But, I give you an example that I guess you can't answer and I lost the debate? and I am being a sore loser? Alright man you on some other **** right now. I am going to take Comedian advice and let you be since you don't know **** about the history of the sport.

Not really, because most trainers learned from past trainers and built on it, just like how a scientist today would build on past scientists' theories. Things get better and better with time, man. Gotta love it or live with it.

Neither is Cotto is as skilled or as great as Wilfredo Gomez or Wilfredo Benitez.

Hopkins is not as great as Marvin Hagler. Maybe not even as skilled. A fight between them could of been a war that would of went either way.

Hatton? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha GTFOH I shutter to think what Aaron Pryor would of done to Hatton at 140.

Mosley not as skilled or as great as Alexis Arguello nor even as great as Hearns

Pac would not hang with Duran,

                  Leonard>Floyd at WW.
You're only 26. I'm 42. who you think is has the Authority when we talk about the 80 Greats??

I've seen the ALi, SRL, Durans and Hearns live Via Sattelite in the 80s!! Those are My Favorites.

But most of you guys are overrating too much the Older Greats. I'm not a fan of Sanchez coz He was overshadowed by the Fav 4 during that era. But I think MAB, EM and JMM can hang around with him. I agree SRL beats Floyd but Pac beats them Both. Cotto's better than Benitez.

But I agree that 80s has the Greater Bunch. But today's Era has the 2nd Best Defensive and the Best Offensive fighter of all time in PBF and Pac.
