Comments Thread For: Golovkin vs Nunez; Zbik-Gevor Off; Levin Faces Daniels

Middleweights Gennadyi Golovkin, WBA # 2, and Milton Nunez, WBA # 15, will clash for the WBA title sometime in July or August in Mexico or USA. Behind this is a long story beginning when Golovkin was named mandatory challenger for Felix Sturm, who - strangely, inactive as he is - became superchamp. Golovkin was then to face Anthony Mundine, who withdrew after purse bids had been held. Gennadi then got Frenchman Hassan NīDam Jīkam as co-challenger but negotiations fell through - and in comes Nunez. If Golovkin is a free agent or still tied to Universum is also an open question.

    Easy win for Golovkin.

He needs this warm-up since Universum kept him inactive for so long.

Once he has the belt, hopefully we'll see him against quality opposition.

There was no one ranked higher than #15 that he could have faced instead?

Golovkin vs. #15 for a title? What an absolute load of ****. Nunez hasn't fought anybody currently ranked among the top 500 (boxrec) middleweights. The governing bodies of boxing have to be owned by German promoters to let this happen and call this bull**** mismatch a "title fight."
Re: Zbik vs Gevor. Of course the fight is off and was never going to happen. Huggy Zbik will never, ever, fight a legitimate challenger. He will keep ducking any legitimate fight as long as he can be called a "champion" and fight bums. Dude is the new Erdei
