I think its Floyd's timing that sets him apart in terms of speed.

Juan Manuel Marquez could very well be the fastest fighter Pacquiao has fought in recent years and we all saw what Floyd did to him not so much with speed but with his timing, he was timing him coming in, he was using his reach to time him going out. He was even capable of timing Shane Mosley's jab and most of us will agree that even at 38 Mosley at top speed is one of the fastest welterweights out there even if we only really got a good look at that pace in round two.

Totally agree. Mayweather's initially delivery is faster. However, once Pacquiao's combination gets off, they are very, very fast.

Floyd seems to have better timing and maybe his army length makes it look faster than he is compared to Manny's blistering combo punches.

Timing is not speed. Timing is timing. Floyd can hit you standing right in front of you, and hit you with a left-right combo, and Floyd's jab is what makes him fast because he can land it at will. PAc doesn't commit to the jab, and Pac uses feints to get inside and throw quick combos. Pac is fast, but imo not as fast as Floyd.

True but speeds pretty useless if you have bad timing

Hard to tell since they throw so differently. From my eye's perspective Pac's lead left is faster than Floyd's lead right cross. We all know Pac's combos are faster.

End of the day it don't matter unless they get in the ring and prove it.

You can be slow and time someone. James Toney didn't use speed to ko Nunn. Toney threw a right Nunn saw coming yesterday, and then threw a wild left that put Nunn on his back. Speed is when Roy Jones put Reggie Johnson on his back with a 1-2 before Johnson couldn't even get 1 shot off before he got caught.
