Look at any other division, there are a lot of good fighters, not heavyweight though.

In the other divisions, the weight limit keeps them on their toes in regards to being in shape.

Without a weight limit, these guys don't have as much desire to be in great shape. Being out of shape directly effects performance.

I'd say laziness and lack of proper direction.

Thats my take on it anyways.

There's lots of very good young heavyweights:

        Deontay Wilder
        David Price
        Denis Boytsov
        Robert Helenius
        Vyacheslav Glazkov
        Oleg Platov
        Kubrat Pulev
        Ondrej Pala
        Edmund Gerber
        Francesco Pianeta
        Derek Chisora
        Odlanier Solis

And some very good established boxers:

        Wladimir Klitschko
        Vitali Klitschko
        David Haye
        Tomasz Adamek
        Alexander Povetkin

        And some other decent contenders:

        Chris Arreola
        Eddie Chambers
        Alexander Dimitrenko
        Sam Sexton
        David Tua
        Sam Peter
        Tony Thompson

        That's 23 boxers.

I'd say heavyweight is much deeper than some other divisions such as light heavyweight where there's only about six or seven good fighters, and super featherweight, which has lost it's best boxers to bigger divisions.
