No, in fact JMM and Floyd fought at a welterweight catchweight. Therefore JMM brought Floyd down 3 lbs. (not that Floyd made the weight but still)

First of all it was changed to 146, which meant Marquez went up 9 pounds and Floyd came down 1 whole pound...

Why didnt Floyd just Fight at Marquez best weight instead of bringing him up 9 pounds to his best weight?

What ever way you put it Floyd requested a catchweight

JMM was challenging Floyd. I am sure Floyd wanted it at the regular WW limit of 147 while marquez wanted it at 144. Therefore JMM requested it to be at 144, not the other way around.

Kind of like when Larios challenged Pacquiao and had to go up 2 weightclasses.
Difference being there were no offer of a catchweight then.

still favor Tony in that rematch too

The two have a complimentary style that equals both giving and taking lots of shots. But Steward is on to the right idea, the jab. If he can keep Cotto pumping the jab and stepping behind it with good footwork he could beat Margs down. Margarito's comeback made him look slow and rusty and for good reason but still it would be quite a jump.
