    Espn Idiots

Outside of Friday Night Fights, why do non-boxing analysts continue to bash boxing? It is rediculous how all they focus on is Tyson's idiotic behavior and all the negative things surrounding that.

I guess the non boxing analysts only tend to pick out negative things such as Hearns wanting to come back. As a hardcore fan, I could care less about that.

They also talk about how boxing has nobody coming up and the lack of any good young talent. Please.

Ever hear of Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Diego Corrales, Sam Peter, Taylor, Hatton and countless others? How is it that they are still talking about Mike Tyson when we just saw Mayweather fight Gatti last week.

One of the things that is also killing the sport is that mainstream people who know nothing about the sport only focus on the negative. Why is it they do this to boxing so badly? No sport is without scandal. For example in the NBA, there is rampant sex scandals, supposed game fixing, athletes getting charged with gun possession, beating their wives and thuggery from different guys yet they still push KG, Kobe, Iverson and TMAC down our throats?

I mean with all the great fights that people overlook like Corrales - Castillo, Mayweather - Gatti, Morales - Pacquiao, and other huge matches that may happen like Hatton - Mayweather.

I mean the coverage of such events is such a joke. I just barely flipped on ESPN and you have non boxing guys poking fun at the sport and I flip to ESPN 2 and I see a hotdog eating contest followed by pool!

I probably don't make any sense. I guess I'm just a fan who is frustrated with how our sport gets no love.

You are dead solid perfect on this one!

The mainstream media knows **** about real boxing, I mean look how ESPN covered Tyson v. Mcbride, you would have thought it was going to be the fight of the century, the same weekend Cotto fought Abdelluev and Diamond was fighting Casamayor...but these guys never were mentioned.

Bowe gets mentioned for being brain dead and coming back, Camacho gets some pub for getting busted with guns, drugs, burglaries etc. Holyfield is always an example the main media loves to bring up...**** they have no clue what real boxing is about...

You are right on with your comments!

Actually I think espn is finally starting to show more boxing stuff. On espn news they had Floyd Mayweather, and Ricky Hatton interviews. After the Gatti fight they had the news in the bottom right hand corner, and showed highlights and punch stats.

You're right. Ever since ESPN entered the PPV market boxing has been getting a lot more coverage, both on TV and radio. Here in the ATL we've actually got a couple of radio hosts that take calls on the most recent fights. I'm talkin PBF/Gatti, not that Tyson ****. If it ain't happenin' where you are, call your local ESPN talk station and tell 'em you want to talk boxing.

Boxings coming back cause new stars are being made, Trinidad, Tyson, DLH were past stars, now we got Hatton, Cotto, Mayweather lighting fuel for people to pay attention again. If boxing has nothing going on, than it dies down, the Floyd PPV shows people are watching, and it could be that Trinidad returned too, he started a trend of boxer combacks.

The sports writers they have on PTI and Around the Horn know nothing about the sport. They are 2 worried about Golf, which isnt even a sport to begin with.

what really made me furious was what happend after hopkins/de la hoya. the day after that fight, i was looking thru the newspaper to see if ANYBODY covered possibly the biggest fight since lewis/tyson. i looked and looked and looked all over the papers and do u know where i found it? on the ass-end of the sports section (of course the sports section)! it was a piddly-ass half-column article just stating the facts. the author seemed like he had no interest in one of the richest fights in fistic history.

in the wake of one of the biggest fights that could possibly be arranged, it merits only a blurb of an article in the very back of the sports section. that was a ****ing disgrace.

ESPN doesnt do **** boxing-wise regarding the main players of the sport. FNF is cool usually. But there's nothing in the headlines unless it involves Tyson or Holyfield. Espn is like the guy that comes to your house to watch boxing and pretends to know whats going on even though he never pays attention to the sport otherwise and is completely clueless.

another fact. only a few days after the golota/brewster "fight", i actually heard someone mention golota saying "this happens to me every decade."... ok, of all the things to cover in boxing, they decide to do an interview with golota after a 1st round KO? as if anyone on ESPN even gives a good **** who golota is?
