That's the most likely scenario, besides, the Philippines and Mexico both has a shared history and the fact that there are lots of mexican in mexico actually who doesn't even know they have pinoy blood.

I just can't recall what the town's name in Mexico where there are Mexicans whose descendants where filipinos who were sea-farers or were deckhands on the galleon trade during the spanish empire and has settled in Mexico.

The Philippines even have a town called Mexico.
