Comments Thread For: Montiel vs Morel: Issues Come Up as Purse Bid Looms

As reported on BoxingScene.com, the WBO ordered a purse bid for this coming Friday to place an immediate push for a fight between WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel and interim-champion Eric Morel. The fight has been talked about since early 2009. The WBO is tired of waiting and wants the fight to happen. Montiel has to fight Morel or give up the full WBO title. [Click Here To Read More]

Nice, but the winner should face Hasegawa afterwards.

Why would Montiel need to brutally KO Hasegawa again?

Montiel just went to Hasegawa's backyard and KO'd him in front of all the man's Japs. He is the WBC/regular WBO champ, if he wants the fight in Mexico then Morel better row his ass over cause Morel hasn't done ****, what? Struggle with an aging Penalosa? Puh-lease. Montiel should dictate where it happens.

montiel is the champ, unified champ, morel just had a fight where he didnt look good,he should feel lucky to be ranked number one,if he doesnt want to go to mexico, dont take the fight and let the number 2 guy be the number 1,simple as that,if morel were the wba champ or ibf,i would understand him making these requests since he's also a champion, but he's not

Montiel should have been stripped a long time ago! Morel has been the #1 contender for about 2 years & instead of Montiel fighting his mandatory(which is Morel) he went on to fight "tomato cans" like Valdez(who Montiel actually lost to & was changed to a tech. draw, the decision was changed 3 times) & super dehydrated Ciso Morales & then went on to unify the WBC belt...

That's way more than Morel has done in years. Some people think he should have lost his last fight against Penalosa.
