Lewis was 37, that's not really that old for a heavyweight. Vitali is 39, came back after a 4 year layoff and is still dominating the HW division.

In the interviews before their fight, Lewis said he was well prepared, very motivated for the fight and he wanted to keep fighting for a few more years.

Lewis was coming off the KO win over Tyson. In the Lewis/Tyson post fight interview Lewis stated "I'm like fine wine, I get better with age."

Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared him into retirement. That's a FACT.

Even Manny Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch and retiring like a scared *****.

Wladimir fought the shot versions of Phil Jackson, Ray Mercer, Francois Botha and Hasim Rahman years after Lennox beat them, yet Lennox still outperformed Wlad against two of the prime versions..
