they know how fans are...
fans quickly dismiss you after a loss...
they know how promoters are...
they may be quick to put you off to the side...
they know their pay days may decrease...
and a sense of pride... -
its bad for business
if im a good boxer witha perfect record i know someone is a better boxer than me im not gonna fight him to tarnish my record until my skills are even or better than him
also if u are a champion theres much shame in loss and youll lose the big purse upon youre next fight
jack johnson couldnt get a title shot for 2 years
he went to every one of tommy burns fights and heckled him calling names and such he did that 4 8 bouts in a span of 2 years
finally when he gave johnson the chance to fight
johnson pumbled him the police stopped the fight in the 14th round cuz they feared for burns's life this made johnson the first ever black heavyweight champion
if u saw the size comparison in these 2 youd duck jack johnson alsoComment

so you mean to tell me that if a real great fighter loses a fight people him to the side like garbage? thats messed up. i will always love my fighter even if he losesComment

what if youre fighter continues to lose?
if youre favorite boxer whom is boxing right now loses five matches will he honestly still be youre favorite?
or will disappointment overcome and youll go **** this guy
this dude over here is sharp and doing his thing?Comment

I'd stick with my favorite fighter, personally. That could be me, though. That's not to say I don't like to watch other fighters, though.Originally posted by VEGADAMUSwhat if youre fighter continues to lose?

example, if floyd lost, people would call him overrated and degrade his career...so either you don't lose, or you accept defeat and come back afterwards...
the thing is that fighters and/or promoters/managers want to avoid the losing part all together...because they have to go through the recovery process...guys like Olajide, Bojado, and Ricardo Williams were never the same after a loss.Comment
