The Hype on Yuri Foreman on HBO telecast.

Was I the only one that caught that, HBO was hyping up the hell out of Yuri Foreman going into the Fight. They did damn near everything except give the guy his own 24/7, and even that was debatable because on my Comcast On Demand he had interviews and everything. Its as if they were ready to write off Cotto completely as a boxer. Then, during the fight they were still swinging hard on Yuri's coat tails, to the point where Roy Jones Jr., the only one that knew boxing, in the 4th or 5th said "he is not throwing punches because he wants to get in the fight he is throwing punches so he doesn't get Knocked out." And even then Kellerman was trying to defend Yuri. I just couldn't believe the way Kellerman and Lampley were cheerleading for Yuri when it was obvious he was losing. That was both embarassing on their part and disrespectful to Cotto to completely write him off before and during the match, HBO was trying to make it Yuri's coming out party.

On a side note, I do believe Yuri is a champ. He DID show what he was made of in that fight and showed he is all heart even when wounded. I tip my hat to him for his efforts!

bro - he was an undefeated israeli *** who was marketable.

with him as an elite fighter, all of a sudden at the fights you have seinfeld, katzenberger, larry david and allen all paying 15k for a ringside seat for this guy and a motivated israeli / *** contingency for the sport.

    buko money, son.

I know that he would open up a very wealthy market, but even with that, down playing Cotto or any other fighter is ridiculous!

***ish has nothing to do with it.

Of course they hyped him they are trying to get viewers hello!!!!!

It's not like HBO is gonna sabbotage their own fight by telling everyone that Yuri had no chance to win.

Not a question of sabbotaging and saying Yuri couldn't win, on the contrary they were making it seem like there was no way Cotto could win. THey could have just promoted for what it was supposed to be a battle tested warrior vs up and coming champ. Nothing wrong with that. Even going into the fight I thought Cotto might lose but nothing like what was being protrayed on fight night!

Foreman was a hypejob with a padded up record.

Part time fighter full time rabbi and feather fisted, thats why Cotto handpicked him. Never has he been THE champ at any of his weights.

HBO is always searching for white fighters they can build up into stars. It's nothing new. Look how they hyped that bum Pavlik.

I was really annoyed at the end of the broadcast where Kellerman and co. were talking about Foreman more than they were Cotto. Cotto came off a huge loss and moved up in weight, won a title and made a huge comback, and all they could talk about was Foreman fighting with a limp for a round and a half. ****ing lame.
