Roger Mayweather is a lot of things, but a fool he is not and apparently neither is he nephew boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. Roger was recently heard on The Boxing Truth Radio stating that only a fool would walk away from a 100 million dollars referring to the recent speculations that his nephew will be taking a few years off boxing to focus on other things and walking away from a huge purse from a bout with Manny Pacquiao.
The whole Mayweather Jr. retirement talk started after a video of Floyd for the Make A Wish foundation was released. In the video Floyd was asked if he would fight fellow welterweight superstar and boxer of the decade Manny Pacquiao in which he responded that he will definitely not fight this year and that he is going to take a year or two off boxing to focus on his gym and the Mayweather Foundation. His response was definitely unexpected and fueled the accusations of some that he is ducking Pacquiao. This is mostly speculation based off of Floyd’s comments and if he is really retiring again then we should be hearing an official announcement soon.
Roger Mayweather meanwhile is sure that Floyd Jr. WILL fight Pacquiao as sure as he is that Manny is on some kind of illegal drug. When asked about other possibles fights with top competition such as Sergio Martinez or possibly Paul Williams, he simply said that they would not be as big a draw as a Mayweather Vs Pacquiao fight, hence it would not make any sense. Finally we have someone from the Team Mayweather that genuinely sounds like they want this fight to happen.
