Yes, that was an interesting way to make sure that no coaching (or stalling) went on during the rinsing off of the mouthpiece, but I sure hope that this practice does not become common. If it does, then you run the risk of the opponent's corner having a "special" water bottle ready, and who knows what substance, drug, or chemical could be put on your fighters' mouthpiece.
Personally I wouldnt want the opponents corner touching my fighters mouthpiece ever, for any reason. Nothing good can come from it. If anything, get a commission inspector or official to do it, but NOT the opposing corner.
