Donaire:I want Montiel and then Rafael Marquez at 122.

8CN: First off, Vic Darchinyan backed off from the fight. How disappointing was that? The whole boxing community wanted that rematch.

Nonito Donaire: It was real disappointing to have Darchinyan back out. I mean come on, my wife and I were IN VEGAS ready to sign the contract and you're going to tell me before we land that it's too late?! Three months before the schedule and it’s too late?

8CN: It can be remembered that Darchinyan badmouthed you after the fight, throwing some preview on how he would punish you should the two of you ever meet again in the ring. Do you feel, at the very least, elated that it looked it was him who never wanted to fight you again?

Donaire: I don't really think that he really wanted to ever fight me. I wasn't at all happy because I already started training to fight him again so it was real frustrating to waste my time.

8CN: Gary Shaw once said he would never give you a rematch with Darchinyan. In your own words, do you believe Shaw has anything to do with Darchinyan’s withdrawal?

Donaire: I really don't know if Shaw has anything to do with it. I mean I know they had problems with the TV rights with Top Rank and I didn't understand it either. Darchinyan had his Australian rights AND Armenia but Shaw was fighting TR for the Philippine broadcast and TV rights. It seemed like there was one excuse after another to not make this fight happen.

8CN: Darchinyan is the only legitimate opponent for you in the super flyweight division. And with his refusal to fight you, the only option is to go up and challenge the bantamweight champions. Fernando Montiel is currently considered the best bantamweight and we all know you want to fight him. Did he or his team make any response to your challenge?

Donaire: As far as I know, Montiel wants to fight me too so as soon as I get through my July 10 assignment, Dunking Cameron (Donaire’s manager) is suppose to talk with Todd to figure out when and where we'll fight. I want to move up and I’ve wanted to fight him so let's make it happen.

8CN: Another fighter you want to lock horns with is Puerto Rico’s Eric Morel, but sadly, he turned down your offer to fight him. Do you feel disappointed that all the good names out there are unwilling to face you in the ring?

Donaire: I can't explain the frustration I feel when the good names refuse to fight me. I mean, how are there champions that refuse to fight? I wish I could find someone like me who is elated to fight anyone and everyone ESPECIALLY the top dogs. I want to prove my worth in the pound for pound and it seems like no one wants to step in the ring to test it out.

8CN: And there were rumors that your wife, Rachel, has been cherrypicking your opponents for you. Coming directly from you, how engaged is your wife with your boxing affairs?

Donaire: Rachel has nothing to do with my opponents, my purse, where the fight is or anything of the sort. I think it’s so ****** that people actually think Rachel is like that. Cameron Dunkin is my boxing manager and he is in charge of it. Actually Cameron even asked Rachel if she wanted to help him and she respectfully refused. Rachel is in charge of the website update, merchandise, PR, and my schedule, laundry, payouts to the sparring, flights, accommodations. Did I mention major scheduling? She even schedules when my interviews are so no one wakes me when I’m sleeping. As far as boxing is concerned, she is not in it. Cameron is the one who does it.

8CN: Darchinyan, Montiel, and Morel are the good names for you right now and it seems they do not want anything that has to do with you. Any fighters you want to call out?

Donaire: Sure, I want Montiel and then Rafael Marquez at 122.

8CN: Manny Pacquiao is slated to retire after one more fight, possibly against Floyd Mayweather. Many people are ready to name you the face of Filipino Boxing once Pacquiao’s career ends. Any thoughts on that?

Donaire: I use Pacquiao's boxing career as a blue print for what I want to do in my career but I don't think anyone will be able to carry the Philippine torch the way Manny has. I will do my best to represent the Philippine and bring pride to the country in my own way.

8CN: Any message to all boxing fans?

Donaire: Thank you so much for all your support and love throughout my boxing career. Don't forget to visit FilipinoFlash.com and don't be afraid to leave me messages on Facebook or Twitter.

8CN: Thank you much for your time, Nonito. God bless you champ.

Donaire: And thank you Kenneth for taking the time.
