Comments Thread For: Ringside at Foreman-Cotto: The Post-Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - With the fistic shadows of Benny Leonard, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, and Muhammad Ali cast across the outfield ring, boxing produced a memorable Saturday night on June 5, 2010 in the Bronx.

After a sensational trip down memory lane featuring clips of old Top Rank classics played on the screens around the stadium, a roar went up with the first images of Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KO) in highlight. The roar went “Stone Cold” as highlights became the man himself, a challenger Saturday night in New York Yankee pinstripes. The stoic former Jr. Welterweight and Welterweight titlist was trying for a belt in his third weight class. [Click Here To Read More]

Cotto looked much improved although I think he still gets way too wide when he gets into exchanges. Don't sleep on Angulo the kid has good power although I agree he needs at least a good name on his resume to get this fight. I liked that Cotto went back to timing instead of trying to match speed. PAC is still a very tough fight for Cotto his speed and volume punching overwhelmed him in the first fight it would be. Interesting to see if the extra weight (which Cotto carried extremely well) would help his chin. I could see Cotto giving Paul Williams a hell of a fight maybe beating him. There is plenty of options.
