why was yuri allowed to fight that long after his knee buckled

Just saw the fight, his knee buckled on his own, or he slipped, combo of both. He clearly wasnt the same after. Im not familiar with yuri's fights, but does anyone know if this has happened before?

It was bad enough that his own corner tried to stop the fight, and the ref basically forced him back in teh ring. Of course a fighter would still want to continue, but he shouldnt have allowed back in. He looked like an injured rabbit getting chased by a wolf. It was ugly

These slips are starting to be a pet peeve. Ever since dirrell slipped I just hate seeing these. It ends up being the deciding outcome on the fight.

I understand Yuri was wearing a brace, but he shouldnt have been so active side to side if this was the case.If you want to dance and move side to side, make sure you have the balance like floyd to do it. Otherwise youll look like a ****** like dirrel and yuri.

the ref was clearly an idiot.
Yuri corner stated that they thrown the towel

If the ref thought that Yuri can continue to fight with one leg he is in the wrong business, he can clearly not able to look for the fighters benefits.
      What a douche

cuz floyd knows when and how to move. dirrell excessively moves and pays for it. In his case Arthur had to pay for it.

Yuri shouldnt have been moving as much as he did if he was wearing a breace. and dont blame the water, there'd better be a ****in waterfall next to the ring for them to slip like that.

He didn't slip the first time, his knee gave out. You can clearly see it. He was moving around landed a little funny and just went down. He wasn't forced to keep fighting either when the towel came in he was utterly dissapointed and wanted to keep fight. The ref did a good job in my opinion and wanted to let Foreman control his destiny.

He was allowed to continue because despite his lack of punching power he has the heart of a champion. Simple. The first time he went down his knee just gave out, I used to have a similar problem and had to have surgury on it. I was in the army, we would be running along and suddenly it was like my right leg was gone from the knee down for just a second, and I would go rolling. Yuri fought through it, but with his mobility reduced it was just a matter of time before Cotto walked him down and landed that body shot. When Yuri went down for the final time it wasnt the bad knee, in fact his good leg gave out that time because of the great body shot Cotto landed. Cotto is one of my absolute favorites, he looked pretty good last night and I was very happy to see him get a good win, but lay off Yuri. Yuri has something most people lack today, heart.

watch the tape again. after cotto lands the big left uppercut hybrid hook punch in the corner (he lands it while yuri is escaping the corner, biggest punch of the fight, very surprised it didn't put him to sleep) after that, the leg stuff starts. it's a bunch of bull****.

I think Yuri probably has done some damage to his ACL previously and it gave way.

With the amount he was moving one way and then pushing off on the knee and going the other it finally gave. I have a friend who played a lot of football and now he can run fine if it's in a straight line but if he has pivot and swap directions he goes down like a baby goat. I've seen it happen and Yuri's falls looked exactly the same. He didn't slip, his ACL gave out and couldn't support his weight basically. He was a lamb to the slaughter after that.

I was surprised that the knee thing was never mentioned. It was clearly a problem and it buckled for no reason, the slow motion replay looks sick....like an acl popped or something. The ref told him to tough it out but he was done after the knee gave out.
