As a promoter he did the right thing in defending Marg, I didnt like it but as a promoter its he right thing to do, to protect both investements.

Cotto's fans believe the weight drain issue is legitimate, bringing Pac up to 154 is reason enough for them to believe their man, Cotto, will fair much better, be bigger and stronger, especially if he has a good showing tonight. And if Arum didnt rather Foreman win, he wouldnt have pit him against Cotto in his very first title fight, that makes no sense, besides there is quite a good ***ish following of Foreman in New York, and if you think the ***ish angle is ridiculous youre quite wrong there. Bob is calculating that Cotto has lost enough as a boxer that Foreman should be able to win, the thing is though, his calculations could be wrong.

Mayweather's Plan A fighter: Top Rank's Manny Pacquiao
Mayweather's Plan B fighter: Dibella Entertainment's Sergio Martinez

Pacquiao Plan A: Mayweather Promotions/GBP's Mayweather
            Plan B: Top Rank's Margarito
            Plan C: Top Rank's Foreman-Cotto

Damn I see Mayweather feasting on GBP fighters there.

There had better be a LOT of Cotto fans who buy into that in order to sell the rematch.

Also (IMO) the New York ***ish demographic isn't nearly enough to replace the much bigger Cotto fanbase. The fans who don't fit into either one very likely would rather watch Cotto's more fan friendly style. If Cotto wins there are a number of attractive fights at 154 that HBO or Showtime would buy. Yuri is a good guy, but he isn't nearly as appealing as Cotto in matchups against Williams, Angulo, Cintron, etc. A fight between Foreman and another counterpuncher (like Vanes) would have thousands of fans vowing to switch to MMA. I just don't see the upside of Foreman winning for Top Rank.

BTW, the part of the ***ish angle I thought was ridiculous was that Arum just wanted to see another *** win. That is no more true than Don King wanting an African American boxer to beat a more popular White/Hispanic/Asian fight he promotes.

That probably has to do with GBP having no more marketable fighters at that weight for Floyd to fight.

If you really think Bob Arum is going to squander potential millions of dollars for his culture, we're on entirely different pages. My experience following boxing is that money is the bottomline for every promoter who isn't broke.
