The only reason Clottey was hyped in that fight was not because he has great skill, or impressive wins, or a number one ranking. The reason why boxing "experts" like Fischer said that Clottey would be Pac's toughest fight yet and Steward was biased in the broadcast saying "Clottey was comfortable with the situation" is not of Clottey's merit. Sure, giving Cotto a close fight helped, but the REAL REASON Pac-Clottey had hype was because
Josh Clottey was the first black fighter Pacquiao's fought in recent memory. I'm not being racist or anything, but it's true. I think even Freddie Roach didn't think Pacquiao could beat a black fighter, that's why they chose Clottey. And of course, in the boxing "experts" minds, Manny could never beat Mayweather, because Manny'd never fought a black fighter before.
I'm not a racist, just please come out and be real.
