    Question about Flody/Gatti fight

Sorry ahead of time about the 100th Floyd/Gatti thread. Well I finally saw the fight and does anybody else think that after Gatti got knocked down he abandonded his game plan. He was doing fine in the first round, staying outside and jabbing, but in the second round he tried to get inside and just got destroyed. One could say that Mayweather was just taking his time, and theyd probably be right. I just wanted to know what yall thought.

That seems to be the story everybody's going with now. Thing is that that's a handy excuse, but you could tell from the opening seconds that Gatti didn't have a prayer. In fact I think he knew right away that the was ****ed which is perhaps why he was so careless in that particular incident. Like, a fighter of sound mind wouldn't have left himself so unprotected. No, if you ask me he could tell right away that his game plan wasn't working.

I think in Boxing, there is not much to tell from the first round...the first round is usually a feeling out process...settling into the nerves, etc...it is what happens after that which mean something...unless you get KOed in 1 round...

Floyd still was winning the round...

I think your right, Gatti realized he was in with a different type of animal very very early in that fight.

I mean this is a guy that fought Mickey Ward (x3), Branco, Leija(ancient), Dorin (tiny)...and he then is supposed to compete with Floyd...Floyd was in the matrix compared to these guys...
and Gatti found this out about 10 seconds into the fight.

Exactly, I don't think I've ever seen a fight where the outcome was so obvious right from the opening bell. This was the 140-pound version of Louis - Schmleing II.

I had about 20 people over and it was so loud and crazy for the Harris/Maussa fight and then people were so excited when Gatti was coming in by himself....

And about 1 minute in it got quiet, some people bitched about the knockdown until they saw the replay and basically it was dead silent from there on out...very depressing.
