Who Has Your Favorite Lead Uppercut???

Leading with the uppercut is the worst punch in boxing, mainly because it leaves you wide open. An example is how Buster Douglas landed it alot when he fought Tyson but the first time he threw it against Holyfield a counter right seperated him from his senses.

You have to know when to throw it. Usually when a fighter is getting away from straight punches on your lead side and you know he's not coming back iwth anything.

i think the thread starter caused some confusion by saying lead uppercut, because when someone says a lead right, they mean it's the punch they come in with. but i think he means lead uppercut by the foot which is foreward.. so some guys in the thread are saying a lead uppercut is a no no.. but thats not what he means!


im really not sure who's is the best. i think marquez uses his well.. but id have to go with tyson.. his was the most powerful, cotto's isnt bad either!


i think you can lead with an uppercut if you rush in up close and they bend over.. but you wouldnt want to do it if both fighters are on their back foot! or you could feint a hook and throw the uppercut first.. im sure there are some situations where it works
