Did james toney send michael nunn into retirement?

I can remember watching that fight like it was yesterday and having nunn winning the fight but after say 8 rds. Here comes toney getting closer and closer.... Then, smash with the left go figure and nunn trying to get up and the ref should,ve warn toney from hitting nunn in the back of the head and the rest is history... I don,t recall if he ever fought after that fight and if so it couldn,t been but say 1 fight and bye bye nunn... So toney really did send nunn into retirement, right???

He fought for awhile after that and won another title at 168. He got a controversial decision over Cordoba, but the rematch was a clear win.

The fast life caught up to Nunn. It's a shame, because he looked brilliant at times.

No, Nunn lifestyle had more to do with it then Toney did. And, is not like Nunn didn't beat anybody of note after.

Nunn was overall a fantastically quick and gifted fighter.

That Toney knockout was brutal man.

******* ruined Michael Nunn however. No man did it.

I agree and like PED said, it is a shame for the reasons you gave about him being such a gifted fighter.

Given the quality and durability of the victim, Nunn-Kalambay to be one of the most impressive, and unlikely, knockouts I've ever seen.

I didnt know he did *******....

He was a fantastic boxer at his best. It's a shame he didnt achieve more really considering his level of talent and skills. He could've done alot more than he did in his career
