Cuban Bronze Olympic Medalist Yordenis Ugás Debuts on ESPN FNF

Yordenis Ugás will be making his debut Friday on ESPN Friday Night Fights.

Yordenis Ugás Hernández (born July 14, 1986 in Santiago de Cuba) is a Cuban amateur boxer best known to win the lightweight 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships at age 19. He is also a Bronze medalist in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He has a major flaw which is a suspect chin. I dont know his amateur record but it seems like he has some power. Fellow Cuban member help me out with some info on him.

It says on Wikipedia that he was dropped by Ibrahim Kamal at the Senior World Championships 2005. I want to see the video so I can judge his chin, hopefully it aint as bad as Amir Khan. Also Khan beat him in the amateurs as well.

lil homie most of the times people see someone fighting on a card that its going to be televised by espn and they assume its going to be on tv. i understand he is fighting on that card my question is will it be 1 of the 3 fights shown because i had heard its very unlikely

You right, cause I just took a second look at the fight card, it has 8 bouts and his bout is almost near the bottom. With the main event being Yudel Jhonson(not impressed with him). Confirmed that his fight isnt going to be aired. http://fightnights.com/espn_friday_night_fights.php

There are a ****load of Cubans that are destined to be stars. I can't wait until Roniel Iglesias defects and goes pro.

School me on Roniel Iglesias. What makes you so high on him? Just want to know before I jump on his bandwagon. I peeped his amateur fight with Frankie Gomez.

I'm not up on the amateurs too much, so I couldn't really say. I just thought the dude looked incredible in the 08 Olympics, even though he only got bronze. I have watched some of his other fights, like the Gomez fight, and he looks to be the goods

Isn't Luis Franco going pro too? We need more cuban boxers in the sport.
