It's so hard to tell really - Gerald was complaining early on in the fight that he wasn't feeling right, so you could say his symptoms were coming on then (maybe).

But maybe he received it earlier and Benn triggered it, or exacerbated it, or whatever. Part of me thinks that 40 odd minutes of being batted about (having been in the ring with people like Julian Jackson) is more than enough to cause that damage, but the other part of me feels the opposite: that time just doesnt seem long enough to incur such severe damage and it must have been the icing on the cake, so to speak.

I did hear he suffered a lot from headaches, even really early on in his career.

well we all know that jackson was probably one of the greatest punchers to live... his knockout ratio had to be 90% if not higher... so i can see where he got hit by big puncher... and if you get misdiagnosed by doctors and they give you a clean bill of health even after the headaches, and you get hit clean in that area well, and the rest is history...

He took some big punches from Jackson in there first fight so if there was any weakness there that would have done him no good at all, Gman was clearly in trouble from almost the 2nd round against Benn he was acting strange everytime he was hit, i think if the fight was stopped in the first round when he had Benn out the ring he could well have got injured in another fight.

thanks squirrel... great ratio though... imagine that impact from jackson if he lands say 40%... then here comes Benn, his k.o ratio had to be high as well but anyway just looking at that fight, Benn landed a lot of clean shots to gerald chin as well as the rabbit punches... that truly was a killer fight and someone dam near died literally...
