Comments Thread For: Montiel vs Concepcion Still in Doubt Over WBO/WBC Rules

Despite an announcement in Mexico City that Fernando Montiel will defend his WBO/WBC bantamweight titles against Rafael Concepcion on July 17 in Chiapas, there are doubts the fight will happen, at least with the titles on the line, because Concepcion is not ranked in the top fifteen by the WBC or the WBO. it would be good but i think wv2 needs 2 become more polished as an overall fighter. dude is talented but he still can get exposed by a more expierenced boxer. ill be rooting for him though if they do scrap.

why not concepcion, hes a former champ, went the distance with donaire, montiel just fought a champ, went to japan, fought someone who had defended that title many times,i think he deserves a fight like this, which isn't all that easy, after this maybe donaire would be good

Ever since Montiel won the title vs "TOMATO CAN" Diego Silva his #1 & mandatory opponent has been & still is Morel..Yet he canceled fights with Morel 2 times due to questionable injury's, but went on to fight another "TOMATO CAN" named Alejandro Valdez who cut Montiel in the 1st round with a punch & dropped Montiel in 2nd round & in the 3rd the fight was stopped due to Montiel's cut & then the fight was declared a draw, then Valdez was declared the winner then a technical draw AGAIN!(Yes, 3 DECISION'S IN 1 FIGHT) then defended against a dehydrated & mysteriously ranked #4 Ciso Morales(KO1) & then went to Japan to unify or better yet to fight for the WBC title since in Japan they don't acknowledge the WBO & won TKO4(good win) & now wants to defend against totally unranked "TOMATO CAN" Rafael Conepcion who is 14-4(2 by KO)-1- 8KO's Lost 2 out of his last 5(1 UD against Donaire & quit in the 9th against Jorge "Travieso" Arce) Concepcion's draw came against a guy who was doing his pro-debut & his other KO against a guy that was 1-5(3 by KO)..He rather defend against this unranked "Tomato Can" than fight his mandatory Morel! ¿Why is Montiel avoiding Morel? It can't be the $$$$, cause he definitely ain't making more $$$ fighting these "Tomato Cans"!
