Can't believe that Ali was being compared to the Klitschko's in this thread. Seriously? WTF?!
His power was underrated, in a way he was sort of like Mayweather, not too interested in getting the KO a lot of the time. But when he really wanted to hurt people he could.

Have you even watched ALi fight?

Some facts for you to digest:

Three time Lineal heavyweight champion of the world

      1. George Foreman (HOF) - Win
      2. Archie Moore (HOF) -Win
      3. Sonny Liston (HOF) -Win(2x)
      4. (3x)Joe Frazier (HOF) -Win(2x)
      5. (3x)Ken Norton (HOF) - Win(2x)
      6. Floyd Patterson (HOF) - Win (2x)

+ a bunch of good young hungry contenders (refer to resume)

      Ring Magazine's 100 Greatest Punchers:

      4. Archie Moore
      9. George Foreman
      10. Earnie Shavers
      15. Sonny Liston
      17. Bob Foster
      39. Joe Frazier
      49. Cleveland Williams

      Ali beat all of them.

Haha this reateded bastard put up Archie Moore as a good win...okkk...if you were counting Archie Moore as a good win, then Foreman was the same guy who got beat by Tommy Morrison. Also

Joe Calzaghe beat Jones, Jones beat Ruiz, Ruiz beat Holyfield, Holyfield beat Tyson, Tyson beat Holmes, Holmes beat Al. Boom Joe Calzaghe is better than Ali. I rest my case, undefeated. So suck on that. Archie Moore a good win? Are you on drugs?

So on your list you got Ali beating a guy who lost to Tommy Morrison
A guy who was 50 years old
A guy who was paid off (yeah Ali could really one hitter quitter Liston........)
A guy who had a .500 record during the 5 year span when he fought Ali
A guy whe really beat Ali 3 times
        And a Light heavyweight....

yeah Ali was real good...real good at being a *****

Muhammad Ali- All Time Greatest *****.

as I said in an earlier post, it's not a big deal to be a bit overrated when you're rated as high as Ali is, usually no 1 HW of AT, or even the GOAT for some people

the inconsistency of the quality of his performances in his second career (he was sloppy in many of his fights) and the fact that he has been given at least 2 gift decisions (maybe 4) makes me think he is overrated

but you are entitled to your own opinion, this thread is meant to discuss, so you can discuss all you want, but calling me an idiot is useless and doesn't add anything to the thread
What's the definition of overrated? Someone who isn't good as they are hyped up to be. Ali was certainly good as he was hyped, he's over-glorified, but that doesn't take anything away from his credentials. What boxer can you think of that's greater then Ali? I mean you can debate on that, but at the lowest Ali is a top 3 HW of AT, which says a lot about his resume.

His sloppiness is due to the fact that he had three years taken away from his prime. During 1967, he was still learning as a boxer. If those three years were never taken away from him, Ali probably would have retired undefeated.

the weight limit of the heavyweights has changed as have the size of its fighters in the division.

it was rare to see a 6'7 250lb heavyweight in the 50's and 60's.

This proves that Ali was fighting in the heavyweight division.

Oh Come on now, reducing ALi to number three is really not fair. By consensus he is the #1 at HW.

Of course he's a bit overrated, he ís boxing's icon after all. Even my grandma knows who Muhammad Ali is. There is no way she has ever even heard about Louis, Dempsey, Marciano, Liston, etc, not to mention all the other greats from other weight classes. My granny representing the masses here.

I would say he's overrated to the extent that non boxing fans think he was some sort of unstoppable superhuman icon, that no-one could lay a finger on him. I don't really see how he could be overrated to the knowledgeable boxing fans. Look at his resume. He constantly fought top 10 guys throughout his career and (the majority of the time) came out on top.

Wladimir has been knocked out by 2 BUMS....Nuff said

The only reason his chin has not been tested again is because the division is weak.
