"The fans are the ones that make Champions. Not media en******, not sanctioning bodies"
Jim Lampley said this in 2004 after Lewis retired. Is it still true?

If the bulk of fans don't accept your reign, you won't get the paydays and bigger fights that a champion is supposed to command. So it's partially true. A man's accomplishments in the ring can't be taken away from him, but the public can deny him his props, whether it's fair to do so or not. -
that is one of the ways boxing has evolved. titles are still important for young fighters coming up obviously you want titles but then guys at the elite level could care less about belts. they know that the fans decide.Comment

with 4belts in each division and so many weight classes the fans know who are the true champions for example floyd mayweatherComment

Yes, I don't nor do I think most PPL care who has belts when it comes to who is the man at a particular weight class......even if Pac drops his WBO strap and fights Floyd for ex........that fight is for THEE WW championship of the world.Comment
