GL: When can we expect a formal announcement on the Kotelnik fight? "It looks like Don has a done deal with Kotelnik. Now we're just waiting to get our deal done and it's looking like it's going to be Kotelnik, in tha Lou on August 7."
GL: Timothy Bradley has been on the record on Boxing talk since our last conversation and he's also had quite a bit to say over at Boxingscene. Is there anything you'd like to say in response to some of his recent remarks?
TB: "It's funny how all of a sudden Timothy Bradley wants to mimic Floyd Mayweather. Every time he opens his mouth, he's losing more and more of the little fans he has left with each interview he does. It's a new excuse every time Devon Alexander's name is mentioned. First he gives up the WBC title because Devon wasn't a big enough name as the mandatory. He wouldn't make the mandatory so he gave up the title. He gives up his WBC title and fights Nate Campbell for less money than he was going to get paid for fighting Devon.
"Then he tells you if Devon unifies with Urango he'll fight Devon next. Then Devon knocks out Urango and he runs his big head ass to 147 when he's had every opportunity in the world to make a fight with Devon now. He's going up to 147 to fight a no name, somebody nobody has ever heard of and talks as if that's going to put him in the Mayweather-Pacquiao conversation and that's a joke. Then he's lying on HBO saying that HBO offered him more money to fight Maidana than Alexander. This guy is just so scared of Devon that he's just making up excuses and he's lying on the networks now. He's quoted as saying that he was offered more money to fight Maidana than Devon and that's bull****.
"We could care less at this point if we fight Timothy Bradley or not. I'm not sure Devon wants to get in the ring with a coward at this point."
GL: When did you really start believing that Timothy was scared of Devon?
Kevin Cunningham: "I honestly felt that way from day one. We fought in China at the WBC convention and Tim Bradley and his promoter flew all the way over there begging the WBC to not enforce Devon as the mandatory. We knew from the get go that he wanted no parts of Devon Alexander."
GL: You guys have one nice payday and he's had a few. Do you find it strange that he's talking about money so much and how much more he's made than Devon?
KC: "I find it awfully odd. He's talking about he made more than Devon in his last fight. He fought on Showtime and Devon fought on HBO. The money was about the same the only difference is more people saw Devon look great on HBO. The fact of the matter is this, who has this guy beaten to entitle him to mega-fights and mega-money. He beat Junior Witter for the title and won by split decision. Devon stopped Junior Witter. He fought Kendall Holt. Kendall Holt dropped him twice and in Kendall Holt's next fight he got stopped, so how big of a win was that? He then goes on to fight a young contender and he gets a decision win over an inexperienced contender. Tell me what has he done to entitle him to mega-fights and mega-money? If he was to fight the best guy in the division and unify the division that would catapult him into the situation he wants to be in, but he's not willing to take that risk to earn that position. The fans and everybody is seeing straight through this Tim Bradley bull**** where they're trying to slide their ass into a big payday and the fans are not having it."
"Bradley has a July 17 date on HBO in his hometown and he'll fight in a 2,000 seat arena that he will not sell out. Devon will fight on HBO on August 7 in his hometown as a champion for the first time and he's going to fight in front of a minimum of 8,000 people.
