Vazquez Jr, looking to fight Montiel, Arce or Caballero Next!!

Wilfredo "Papito" Vaquez, Jr. said that he will fight with anyone

    Monday, May 31, 2010
    Lester Jimenez / Primera Hora

The names of potential opponents for Wilfredo "Papito" Vaquez, Jr., are starting to ringi.

WBO/WBC BantamWeight ChampionFernando Montiel (41-2-2, 31 KO's), WBO Jr BantamWeight Champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce (54-6-1, 41 KO's) and WBA Super BantamWeight Champion Celestino "Pelenchín" Caballero ( 34-2, 23KO's).

For them and everyone else *****g their eyes on the WBO super bantamweight champion, Vasquez, Jr., has a short and accurate response.

"I like them all and I will fight with anybody," he said without hesitation after his resounding victory on Saturday against the Hungarian Zsolt Bedak via knockout in the tenth round of his first defense of the WBO super bantamweight title.

However, Vazquez is aware that his championship career is just beginning to take its first steps, so no hurry to try to show the world that he belongs with the elites in the junior featherweight division, yet.

"I'm not one who goes out there to shout that I am the best, because it is not. To me, this is my job and take it seriously, "Vazquez said in an aside with Primera Hora.

"Now they are going to want to fight me because they think I'm the weakest link and that nobody knows me, but this is part of the process. They also had to go through this tand I know I need to polish my skills some more. But do not get confuse. II do not fear anyone,"he reiterated.

Vazquez (19-0, 16 KO's) gave an excellent demonstration of boxing, power and stamina on Saturday against a challenger who came to pay dearly for his defeat.

And although the Puerto Rican still doesnt have clear who will be his next opponent, he does know that his responsibility is to be ready when the phone rings with a new job offer.

"I can not stop working. Right now, I take a week off, I take my anti-inflammatory, and within a week I'm running again, "he said immediately.

Yes, the Montiel, Arce and Caballero's of the world can begin to make their bids if they want to meet the new kid on the block of champions.

"If they want to fight me, and they make a good offer and if I think it is beneficial for me and for my daughter, we will fight no doubt," he said.

I very much like this kid,one of the new fresh faces in boxing.

His dedication is impressive as he is in the ring.

Still thought the first 2 guys are smaller men and while I'd like Caballero it should be at 122 where Caballero would prefer 126.
Realistically he can't get or maybe he ain't quite ready for the really big boys.

Hell yeah. At least WV2 GOT the balls to face Caballero.

      Let's get it on.

I like him 2nd best as Puerto Rican fighter, right behind Rocky Martinez.

      WV2-Caballero would be a classic!

        Vasquez Jr is a beast!!

But I still think he needs 2-3 more fights before he takes on people like Montiel. He has skills no doubt but he still has alot to learn and the people around him won't want to rush him because he could become an excellent boxer with time.

What I like about him, is that he knows his roll. He knows where he is at in boxing at the moment and he doesnt try to play it bigger than what he is.

Plus the fact that he had no ama experience, and picked up boxing at 21, makes it much more interesting!

Too bad it looks like Poon is moving up, Poon-Vazquez Jr would be a good one.

What weight would an Arce vs Montiel fight be at and can Wilfredo make 118? Just curious because it makes no sense to fight either above the bantamweight limit (not hating or anything).

Poon by murder right now. We all know that.

                    I like WV2.

WV2 needs a little time to develop and he'll be right there.

He's got some of Poon's good qualities though.
