Scott Quigg brought boxing back to Bury for the first time since the local council’s strange decision to outlaw the sport from their borough in the aftermath of Mike Tyson’s ear-bite attack on Evander Holyfield in 1997. Quigg, who lives in Bury, had advanced to 17-0 as a pro without getting the opportunity to box in front of his hometown fans; Hatton Promotion’s CEO Gareth Williams led the call to get the ban overturned and the promotional outfit put Quigg on show at Bury’s Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday night.
