If boxers were paid like this we'd have some 'great' undercards too...

Why because they are both combat sports?
Boston Celtics vs LA Lakers with the Boston Red Sox vs NY Yankees on the under card since they are both ball sports.Comment

Lets be honest here. Maywewather Mosley had atleast 25 Mil in the pot for a guarantee. (Floyd guaranteed $20M and Mosley I'm not sure but let's say $5M which is prob a little low) Now figure in that the expected PPV buys would bring in atleast $40M (which is what JUST Mayweather was paid for the cut in the PPV buys Shane was probably paid a portion of PPV too)
So thats brings it to atleast $65Mil in the pot at minimum, Your telling me that both Shane and floyd couldn't sacrifice $5M of their collective amount for a decent undercard? Chances are there was close to or more than $100M made from the fight in the end.
The amount paid to Malignaggi and Khan was less than 2M it was approx 1.5M (1.1 to Khan and 450k to Malignaggi) and Vazquez-Marquez never got paid more than a Mil each for each one of there fights. For their first fight they were paid very little, with there purses eventually going up to about 800k (apparently)
There is no excuse for the poor undercards, How much do some of the prospects on the card get paid? My guess is about than 10k each. If we aren't going to put some decent affordable fights like Vazquez/Marquez or Khan/Malignaggi which showcases talent and raises boxings profile on one of the biggest fights of the year we could atleast put prospects in with a live opponent,
With $5M set aside for an undercard we could have had 3 Vazquez-Marquez potential fights. It can't happen for every HBO fight for obvious reasons but atleast stick prospects in with live fighters, it would increase the exposure and we might actually get a good fight out of an undercard for once.Comment

You moved Ryno?
If so, congratulations.
I am onboard with putting on a good perhaps championship calibre undercard perhaps in the lower divisions which would attract more fans to those divisions because they would see the best of guys who would be thrilled with a good paycheck. And we'd get quality fights from top to bottom.Comment

It's projected to be 3 mill if you add PPV cut and sponsorships
Vargas and Wanderlei did it first.Comment

You guys also forget to add fight bonuses and sponsorships.
Also, what's recorded isn't the real pay. Kamipro, one of Japan's fight mags, reported that Zuffa signed Yoshihiro Akiyama to a 800k-1.2Mill. 4 fight contract. His recorded pay in his fight with Belcher at UFC 100 was 250k/250k....I think. I know Akiyama got 250K to show.Comment

Thats peanuts to what Dana is making. He's robbing them blind.Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans walked away from UFC 114 last night with the biggest payday of the night, with Rashad making a massive $435,000 for his victory over Quinton.
Jackson came in at $250,000, while his Wolfslair team mate, Michael Bisping earned $190,000 for his victory over Dan Miller. More big earners were Antonio Rogerio Nogueira ($120,000) and Dong Hyun Kim ($64,000).
Here is the list in full:
Rashad Evans: $435,000 (includes $185,000 win bonus)
def. Quinton Jackson: $250,000
Michael Bisping: $190,000 ($15,000 win bonus)
def. Dan Miller: $15,000
Mike Russow: $24,000 ($12,000 win bonus)
def. Todd Duffee: $8,000
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: $120,000 ($40,000 win bonus)
def. Jason Brilz: $11,000
John Hathaway: $22,000 ($11,000 win bonus)
def. Diego Sanchez: $50,000
source:
The entire lineup of fighters was paid as a group $1.1mil which included the bonuses for winning...sounds kinda measly.Comment
