He was fighting bums pretty much, no top/elite fighters. He was quicker and threw more combos in 1997 imo in his prime. Barrera was all wrong for him anyway, he wasn't much past prime.
age means nothing..vargas retired at 29..cotto is 29 and past prime....tysons primes ended in his early 20's......not saying hamed was past prime..just saying
I'm a brit, and Naseem Hamed was a wasted talent and he faced nothing but Milkmen and the P4P King Kevin Kelley.
He was an unorthodox britbum that was very entertaining so people overlooked his opposition, until he faced someone live and then retired shortly after.
He then got fat, nearly killed someone in a car and then went to jail, he is a bum who keeps telling people he will return but he is nothing but a liar.
I don't think any one is dumb enough to say he wasn't in his prime, rather he just lost his love for the sport and was not focus. The latter is a fact and he got his a$$ beaten accordingly for it. He wasn't even training hard, and Manny Steward treated quit training him because of it. Full credit to Barrera because he showed up and did what he had to do, but this is how I saw things.

WTF Are you ******??
Don't even try to make a comparison with those fighters and Naseem.
Those guys are true warriors who fought elites, Nas just fought non elite fighters.
