He's probably right. Mayweather and Pacquiao are professional athletes trained in the sport of boxing not street fighting in a cage. Given the right amount of time to train they'd dominate MMA but i don't think either one of them would want to spend that much time wrestling on the ground with other half naked men.

Thing is I think a boxer has more chance in an MMA fight then a MMA fighter has in a boxing match.

Yeah, the best UFC fighter can get themselves into the ring with Pac or Floyd and watch them get destroyed.

          Dana is a MORON

Those glass chinned phonies wouldn't make it through round 7 with an average boxer.

Both pac and floyd would get dumped on their asses and pounded out if they fought a wrestler. I don't see any chance of them beating an mma fighter with a good ground game.

On the contrary, an mma fighter would have absolutely no chance in boxing, since many have terrible standup and couldn't utilise their ground skills.

As for james toney vs randy couture: unless toney is able to keep it standing and land a couple of decent punches he will get his ass whopped badly. I would like toney to win but i have a feeling that he'll get taken down and pounded out.

No ****, Dana!!! It's "mixed martial arts" and "boxing". If an MMA fighter wasn't allowed to kick or grapple, I'm sure they would KO'd by any top fighter.

given that both have extremely good cardio with a good takedown defense i think they could do rather well, but it will never happen because compaired to those 2 the elite in mma make peanuts.

i disagree. pac could definitely succeed in mma. people forget that pac grew up in the mean streets of manila & was on his own before he turned 13. ive read stories of how pac used to fight for money in illegal street fights in the philippines.

his brawling, aggressive, fast, powerful style would suit him better for mma than floyd's pure boxing defensive skill.

if chuck liddell could succeed in mma with basically a stand up punching/brawling style, stands to reason pac could to. all you need is to develop a somewhat good sprawl defense like chuck.

dont forget mma is where washed up shot rejects of other sports come & become successful. if somebody like brock lesner can come in & dominate the top of the ufc why cant a professional boxer?

now flip the script, can someone from another sport just come in & dominate the top echelon of boxing?

                  i think not.

Dana White is an idiot. Boxing has been one of the most, if not the most, effective fighting style in MMA. Is he that much of an idiot that he thinks that if they entered MMA they wouldn't work on their kicks and some ground game. Pac and Mayweathers amazing boxing skills, generalship, and defensive ability would give them the nod over nearly every MMA fighter right off the bat. Work a bit on the other aspects they could probably be a champion. Toney is probably going to beat Coutoure and that will be simply because of boxing but Coutoure isn't amazing by any means but it just shows that strictly boxing is going to beat most MMA fighters. Add in athletes like May or Pac with some real training, it's pretty much over. MMA is too flawed. Better to be an expert at one form of martial arts than to be average to bad at many forms.

Dana failed at his analysis the moment he tried to act like a student of the sport and suggest Manny could still make 135. Pac would be a zombie if he attempted to drop two weight classes at any point from now.
