Boxers can come up with some creative ring entrances, but most are confined from the distance between the locker room and the ring. When Yuri Foreman takes on Miguel Cotto next Saturday night at Yankee Stadium his ring entrance actually will begin more than hour before the fight and include New York's Finest.
Foreman, who is studying to be a rabbi, will be observing the Sabbath on the day he will defend his WBA junior middleweight championship. He will be sequestered in a Manhattan hotel room on 92nd Street until about 9:15 p.m. when he will be given a police escort to Yankee Stadium to prepare for the bout.

The escort is needed to keep Foreman from getting tied up in traffic and not having enough time to get his hands wrapped and properly warm up before the main event starts.
"It's going to be less waiting around time that's for sure," Foreman said.
The New York State Athletic Commission offered to allow Foreman's hands to be wrapped at the hotel under the supervision of a commission rep and someone from the Cotto camp.
"We turned that down," said Foreman's co-manager Maury Wilson. "We have enough time. He only needs an hour."
