IT wasn't so long ago that the globe stood still for a heavyweight world title fight.
Tonight an old-fashioned sized crowd of 60,000-odd will watch Vitali Klitschko defend his WBC title in Gelsenkirchen.
But the fight against the very average Albert Sosnowski means nothing.
The Pole actually has a better record than Klitschko, with six more victories.
Yet the standard of his opposition has been average to say the least.
Just four fights ago he lost every round against journeyman Zuri Lawrence.
And despite being based in the UK, he's probably best known for a fight that didn't happen - a proposed European title challenge against Audley Harrison.
It fell through when Sosnowski got offered a shot at Vitali, good luck to him although it is hard to think of a more undeserving recipient of a world title opportunity.
You can never say never in boxing, but even at 14-1 Sosnowski won't get many backers.
But things have changed a lot in boxing, including the age fighters are still active at world level.
Klitschko is still fresh at 38, the same age John Ruiz was when he fought David Haye recently. Shane Mosley, who also got done by Floyd Mayweather, is also 38.
And Audley Harrison might get his first world title shot at that age if reports this week are anything to go by.
With David Haye's fight against Wladimir Klitschko falling through, it looks like Harrison might jump the queue. He's European champion but for the life of me I don't understand what he's done to deserve a crack at the title.
It would be box office in the UK but would not mean anything elsewhere.
