WBA super flyweight interim champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire (23-1, 15 KO's) wants to move up to bantamweight for his planned July 10 bout on the undercard of the Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez-Bernabe Concepcion WBO featherweight title fight and doesn’t want to fight super flyweight Hernan "Tyson" Marquez (27-1, 20 KO's) who is being lined up as his opponent by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. No doubt. I would love to see him fight Mares. However I would rather Donaire step up and fight a rematch with Vic. Well that's if Gary Shaw stops being a ***** about it.Comment

Would have liked to see Donaire fight Darchinyan at 115, since that fell through, there's no point in staying there even if he didn't get a ****ty worthless title.
I was about to be a hypocrite and say he should've gotten a title before moving up, but we fans have to move away from that. A win over IBF champ Zaveck is not better or more significant than a win over titleless Joshua Clottey.
Nonito is in a tight spot because Top Rank will limit his options to the TR stable or a safe fighter. Abner Mares schedule is clear, so is Yhonny Perez, Agbeko, Mabuza, Montiel, or ,if they really want to play it safe (Top Rank's MO), Christian Mijares.Comment

Bantamweight is a hot division, and I'm glad to see Donaire making the move to that division. If you look at the top guys, Josheph Agbeko is the highest rated guy that is currently available, and I think would be a great opponent for Donaire's bantamweight dubut. He beat Darchinyan up. He had the good effort against Yonney Perez. If Donaire could come out and beat Agbeko, it would make a helluva splash in the division. Plus, Montiel is scheduled to fight a week later. The could start promoting their bout now for later this fall.Comment
