IBF Middleweight Champion Sebastian Sylvester (33-3, 16 KOs) will make a second defence of his title in Neubrandenburg, Germany on June 5 when he takes on mandatory challenger Roman Karmazin (40-3, 26 KOs). Boxing-Online.com has caught up with the 29-year-old “Hurricane” ahead of what could be the most difficult fight of his career.

Sylvester was beaten soundly by Sturm. This is a good fight with Karmazin that I'll watch, but totally meaningless in the overall landscape of the middleweight division, unless of course the old man pulls off the upset. Then, we'll have a "new" contender emerge in the division.

Karmazin is one of the best middleweights out there for him to fight. I agree it doesnt tell us much about the division but it will be a good fight. I dont think Sylvester wants to fight Felix Sturm again.

I like Karmazin but he has shown signs of looking shot the past few fights. Sylvester should win, but his title is pretty meaningless. I can't see him ever fighting the top guys in the division like Martinez or even any of the young guns coming up like Golovkin, Jacobs, N'Jikam or Pirog. Seems like he's comfortable being an Erdei-like champion, fighting at home against very beatable opposition.

The midleweight division is in kinda a goofy state right now. Martinez is the unquestioned champ, but he has a recent loss to Williams. So depending on who you ask, some feel Williams is kinda the uncrowned middleweight champ and Martinez has the bets because Pavlik wouldn't fight Williams. And to make it even crazier, the top two guys we're talking about are natural 154 lb fighters who will likely return to that division. If that happens, it leaves Sturm standing atop the division by default and refusing to fight other top middleweights that have left the division or been knocked off.

Maybe Williams can fight the winner.

I honestly don't think Mayweather-Pacquaio is gonna happen this year. My hopes is that if that happens, we'll see Williams in with one of those guys this fall. But if hell freezes over and Mayweather-Pacquaio is made, I think Williams-Martinez II has to happen doesn't it?
