  • Chavez Jr TKO4 Ruben Galvan

Despite all the hype for Gatti-Mayweather, I think the Chavez fight turned out to be the best one on the card. (I would, wouldn't I?) But I think he proved himself well and has a lot to look forward to as he continues to move up in the ranks. He throws some beautiful uppercuts and landed a lot of good precision punching in this fight until finally Galvan's corner threw in the towel, even when the ref didn't mind seeing him get beaten some more. A very exciting ending, and if this is any indication of things to come, it'll certainly be great.

A great fight for probably the smallest crowd reaction Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will ever get. The crowd was dead the whole card, too, except for when Gatti entered the ring. They must have been drugged.

Plus, I always love hearing about Marty Jakubowski.

I enjoyed the fight as well. Your man has some power, no matter what merchant says . He's gotta move around more, though, that guy was peppering him like he was a slam-man sometimes. Good thing he had zero power or it could have been a bit ugly.

Still, junior kills with those hooks and uppercuts.

Damn that was a good fight, I knew Galvan would test Chavez Jr more than all the others.

I think they should toss him a few more of Galvan level fighters before they step him up.

      Galvan took a beating though.

I like the kid. But in noway did Galvan test Jr. I mean Galvan was fat, his pucnches ******, and he didn't move that well. He was just more padding for Jr.'s record.

This kid can be the next Oscar De La Hoya but don't get ahead of yourself. Chavez junior with his limited competition experience was awesome here and recovered very quickly after getting slapped around in the second round. That fourth round on the other hand was a spectacle in itself. But this level of fighter in Galvan is not very dangerous and I hope the people at HBO continue to groom this kid nice and slow. At 19 though with 20 wins (15 by KO) I am very interested in this young prospect and hope he continues to fight well and often in the near future.

I didn't think the kid looked too good in that fight. He's very young, and hasn't been fighting pro for very long, but he has a lot of time to learn. I just didn't see anything special about his performance.

Last night was the first time I had ever seen him fight. I came away impressed.

You obviously know nothing about boxing if you can't see anything special in the way he fights.

I'm no boxing expert for sure, but that other guy didn't look to good and seemed to be giving the kid trouble. I'm not saying he looked really bad. I just didn't see anything special. But, like I said, he's really young and he could get a lot better really fast.
