Chances are you will root for a fighter because you might have an empathy with them, usually nationality, like their style, think they are a good guy etc
Regarding their colour I think it only can be viewed as sinister if that factor always overides any other factor.
At the end of the day if you are a fan of boxing you really are going to miss out on appreciating some great fighters if you don't like a particular race nationality, religeon etc etc.
Boxing's greatest strength is its diversity and may it always remain so.

I don't feel like posting a bunch of stuff. But what were you expecting? National media coverage on a fight that barely drew boxing fans?

I've been accused of being racist over and over again for years here at boxingscene because many of my favorites are East European fighters.

Originally posted by Tunney!I bet my life if Yuri Foreman was fighting Kell Brook or Ryan Rhodes you'd be rooting for him, GJC, even though your grandparents were probably not from Belarus.Originally posted by GJC View PostDon't bet your life away Tunney i'd hate for you to disappear you are entertaining if nothing else.
Originally posted by Tunney!GJC, you never did answer the question I asked several months ago, so I'll ask it again:
Do you consider the life of a *********** Arab to be worth as much as the life of an Israeli ***?
When I asked before, you just said "all life is precious"
But you didn't REALLY answer the questions. Are some lives more precious than others?
Originally posted by Tunney!Don't misunderstand me. I'm NOT saying it's wrong for you to always root for the ***ish boxer, even if he's from another country and is fighting someone from your country.
I'll ignore the rest of that tosh, I always support a Brit. I might not always think they are too good a fighter but i'll cheer them on. Couple of times a Brit who I wasn't much of a fan of has fought a foreign fighter I was a big fan of and I generally remain neutral there.
Originally posted by Tunney! But I will say if you do so, don't be a hypocrite to call me a **** because I'm a fan of Eastern European boxers despite being a Canadian. It's not really so "sinister" at all, so you have no reason to be so fearful of whites rooting for whites.
I am suprised that you have never seemed to mention Berbick or Lewis, two Canadian fighters who won the Heavyweight title but it is you who always produce the race card when anyone critisises the Klitschko brothers.
I am not fearful of whites rooting for whites, as I have said that kind of thing is human nature. What I find sinister is people whose main interest in boxing is to see a white fighter beat up a black fighter or the other side of the coin a black fighter beat up a white fighter.
